Alabama football is limping into Saturday afternoon's Iron Bowl matchup with Auburn following a deflating defeat to Oklahoma last week. The loss to the Sooners ended the Crimson Tide's chances of a repeat SEC Championship and made it unlikely that Alabama makes the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff, a fact that seemed almost unfathomable after beating Georgia at the end of September.

Auburn comes into the Iron Bowl looking to garner bowl eligibility and end the regular season on a two-game winning streak with back-to-back wins over ranked opponents.

The 89th Iron Bowl will kickoff at 2:30 pm CT on ABC. It marks the sixth time this season Alabama has played a game on ABC. Most recently, the Tide played on ABC in last week's three-touchdown loss to Oklahoma.

On the call will be veteran broadcaster Sean McDonough on play-by-play. McDonough is widely respected in the industry and considered by many to be the top play-by-play man in college football.

Joining him in the booth will be former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy as the color analyst. McElroy's inclusion has brought the ire of Auburn fans who are frustratingly expecting him to be biased toward the Crimson Tide.

Funnily enough, most Alabama fans have been critical of McElroy for working too hard to avoid bias for his alma mater, and in turn, being too critical of the Crimson Tide.

McElroy started two Iron Bowls during his time in Tuscaloosa. He led a come-from-behind victory for Alabama at Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2009 with a game-winning touchdown pass to Roy Upchurch. The following year, McElroy started the infamous 2010 Iron Bowl where Alabama blew a 24-0 lead to Cam Newton and the Auburn Tigers.

That also just so happened to be the last time Auburn won in Tuscaloosa.

Molly McGrath will be the sideline reporter as she often is with McDonough and McElroy.

This will be the second time this trio has been together to call an Alabama game this season. They were on the call for the Third Saturday in October, an Alabama loss to Tennessee in Knoxville.

Hopefully this game ends better for Alabama than that one did.
