Who's leaving and who's joining: Alabama football's Transfer Portal tracker

Alabama football has had a lot of activity in the Transfer Portal so far with players entering and with the Crimson Tide aggressively pursuing what they hope will be roster upgrades. We'll track the departures, the additions, and the targets here.

When Kalen DeBoer first took over as Alabama's football coach in January, the Transfer Portal was a one-way street. Nick Saban's retirement opened up a 30-day transfer window for players on Alabama's roster and it was open season for opposing teams to pillage the Tide's roster.

With the portal window closed for everyone else, DeBoer could only retain whoever he could on the current roster without replacing anyone who left. This time, the Transfer Portal is working both ways, and DeBoer and his staff are aggressively pursuing what they hope to be roster upgrades and players who better fit his culture and his system.

There won't be a mass exodus of players entering the portal this time around, but Alabama will still have plenty of guys leave for what they hope are better opportunities and more playing time elsewhere.

Here is an up-to-date tracker on every Alabama player who has entered the portal as well as the commitments/targets for DeBoer and the Tide:

The Transfer Portal opened up a 20-day window on December 9th, but per On3's Charlie Potter since Alabama's bowl game takes place after the portal window closes on December 29th, Tide players will have up to five days after the bowl game to enter the portal. That means the window doesn't close for Alabama until January 5th. That will be the same for any teams playing bowl games or College Football Playoff games after the close of the portal window.
