With depth needed at DT, Jeremiah Beaman appears ready to answer the bell for Alabama

Redshirt freshman Jeremiah Beaman has undergone an unreal body transformation in just a year on campus. He appears ready to break out for Alabama football in year two at a position that sorely needs him.

One of Alabama football's biggest areas of concern for 2025 is depth on both the offensive and defensive lines. On the ends defensively, the Crimson Tide is loaded with talent and depth options. The concern comes at the defensive interior, where Alabama lost Tim Smith to graduation and Jeheim Oatis and Damon Payne to the Transfer Portal.

Tim Keenan III's decision to return for a fifth year was massive, but the depth behind him and rising junior James Smith is concerning.

It's an area where Kane Wommack has hinted Alabama could be active in the Spring portal window. But internal growth and development is still the No. 1 goal for the position.

Redshirt freshman Jeremiah Beaman is a guy who looks the part and appears ready to be a contributor in his second year in the program. Beaman redshirted last year, but saw action in three games. He got the most snaps of the year against Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl and seemingly held up well.

A dramatic body transformation for Beaman has him ready to contribute

Beaman arrived in Tuscaloosa as an in-state recruit from Birmingham in the 2024 class and was listed at 259 pounds as a recruit. The official roster now lists him at 312 pounds.

It's spring break for the University of Alabama this week and while most college-aged kids would be enjoying time at the beach and taking it easy, Beaman is working. He's working with a personal trainer and looks like a player who is hell-bent on playing significant snaps in 2025:

Beaman is in line for an increased role in 2025 and could be Alabama's next great interior pass rusher, something that the Crimson Tide hasn't had since Christian Barmore's dominant end to the 2020 season. For a full season, you have to go back to Quinnen Williams in 2018.

Beaman breaking out would be a nice surprise for Wommack's defense. The Tide looks stacked at linebacker and defensive back; shoring up the middle of the defensive line would go a long way in making the 2025 defense one of the best in the nation.
