I know what you are probably thinking. What’s the Tide Report? I’ll tell you. It’s Bama Hammer’s new way of keeping you up to date on the major happenings with University of Alabama athletics. The best part is that you can wake up, check the site, enjoy some coffee, and get caught up before you start the day. I’ll always throw in some updates from practice, links from our writers, and links from some of the other great reporters that cover the Crimson Tide.

Practice Update

The most important thing right off of the bat is practice is finally under way. The quarterback battle will be the hot topic of discussion for the next few weeks, but the truth is, we won’t have an answer after one practice. We do know that Jake Coker was working with the first slot. There was also one report that had Coker and David Cornwell as 1a and 1b.

On the injury front, running Bo Scarbrough was back on the field practicing but did wear a brace on his right knee. Saban said during his press conference that the plan was to increase his workload over the next two months and hopefully have him ready to go by the end of the September. He also mentioned that he couldn’t play in the first four games anyway due to a suspension, indicating it was an NCAA issue. Josh Casher injured his pectoral muscle and will be out few more weeks. Cameron Sims and Raheem Falkins are both rehabbing injuries as well. No timetable was given for either one’s return. Saban said Falkins’ injury was surgery to a leg fracture from the summer.

Be sure to check out more from practice on Al.com, BamaOnline and the Anniston Star.

Big news on the basketball recruiting front: Five-star shooting guard Terrance Ferguson was on campus yesterday for an unofficial visit. It should be noted that his mother tagged along, too. Just from seeing his Periscope videos, it seemed like it was having a great time. Two current Tide basketball players tweeted late last night “Roll Tide Roll”. Could it be sign that Coach Avery Johnson landed a monster? Hopefully, we will hear soon. Ferguson is down to the Tide and the Kansas Jayhawks.

Why Would Les Miles Not Face The Same Heat As Nick Saban?

My hot take on Miles not taking the same heat as Saban for allowing someone back on the team that was suspended for domestic violence charges. They are still pending, too.
