Alabama Golf Men’s Team in Third Place after opening round of the Mason Rudolph Tournament in Nashville. The Tide are only two shots behind Florida and one back of tournament host Vanderbilt.

This is an important weekend for Alabama golf with the Men’s and Women’s teams competing in major tournament events.

The Alabama Women’s golf team had its opening round canceled until Saturday due to inclement weather in Brown’s Summit, N.C. The women’s tournament will play 36 holes on Saturday and finish with 18 holes on Sunday. The Alabama women are currently ranked No. 3 in the nation behind Stanford and Southern Cal.

In Nashville, the men shot a 6 under par score on the tough Vanderbilt Legends course. Seven of the 14 teams competing, broke par in the opening round.

Following Alabama in the tournament field are Duke at four under par; Middle Tennessee State and Iowa at two under; and Missouri at one under par.

Liberty, Troy, Southern Illinois, Miami of Ohio, East Tennesse State, Belmont and Ball State make out the remainder of the Mason Rudolph tournament field.

Alabama men’s golf is currently unranked nationally but is playing its best golf of the season. The Crimson Tide finished in third place at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate Tournament in Arizona and finished in fifth place in the Linger Longer Invitational in Georgia.
