Alabama: The Favorite Child

Every family has a favorite child, and it’s usually the one doing the “best” that reflects well on the family as a whole.  Alabama football has won four national championships in the last seven years, propelling the University to a level of athletic excellence rarely seen in the modern era.

The problem with being the Favorite Child in many respects is that all of your siblings are always looking for a way to take you down a notch. Every team considers their game against Alabama to be the biggest of the season because everyone wants to be known as the school that dethroned the king.

Eventually, your brothers and sisters might even bring their friends on board, disliking you for no apparent reason other than your consistent level of achievement (Herbie, Verne, Gary…we’re looking at you) .

Even with all the shade being thrown your way, it’s still fun to give your siblings a smirk behind your parents’ back as you bask in the glory of success.
