SEC Media Days kicked off on Monday and Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn followed the Auburn ‘Coach Speak’ script.
ICYMI: SEC Football Preview—Texas A&M Aggies
It was the most predictable thing ever leading into the opening day of SEC Media Days in Hoover, Al. Auburn football head coach Gus Malzahn was first up and it was just what you expected.
There’s not a lot of happy feelings for a coach that finished 2-6 in the conference with an exhilarating win in the Birmingham Bowl win to carry the momentum into 2016.
Let’s check out some of his comments to get this thing started. We’re Alabama fans. It’s what we do.
Auburn's Gus Malzahn is at the podium now. First thing he does is brag about leading off #SECMDs for the 2nd year in a row: "I like that."

You can understand Malzahn’s excitement here. It’s been quite a few seasons since Auburn football led anything in the Southeastern Conference.
Gus Malzahn says 4 Auburn players arrested on misdemeanor drug charges in May have been punished and won't miss playing time.

That didn’t take long at all.
Malzahn on 2015: That was very frustrating, & it was humbling to go through an experience like that. I'm extremely motivated this year.
— John Zenor (@jzenor) July 11, 2016
This is where we have a difference in opinion. I thought it was one of the funniest things to watch.
Malzahn on Jeremy Johnson: "Jeremy went through a storm. He's responded very well. He's operating with a chip on his shoulder."
— John Zenor (@jzenor) July 11, 2016
He’s going to win the Heisman this year again. Wait, that’s not right.
Gus Malzahn now in the media room, and three policemen came in with him because ... well I don't know.

This is just an extra. I guess he has never seen SEC coaches arrive anywhere.
Gus Malzahn on new Auburn DC Kevin Steele: "He's a true professional." #SECMD16
— Charlie Potter (@Charlie_Potter) July 11, 2016
This could be true compared to who they had as a defensive coordinator last year. Clemson still may hang 60 points on them.
Malzahn on winning SEC in '13: "When you win the championship in this league, it's a big deal. It motivates you to try and win another one."
— Alex Byington (@_AlexByington) July 11, 2016
Here is the surprising news of the day. You want to win championships in the league. It motivates you to win more. Auburn isn’t a very motivated team.
