BALANCE BEAM

Gymnasts will perform one routine, the score of which will count. A gymnast must perform a minimum of 2 flight elements, both must start and finish on the beam. A gymnast also must do a minimum of a 360-degree turn on one foot or knee and leap, jump or hop requiring 180-degree split (front or side) with deductions being taken on dismounts.

The team can drop the two lowest scores from the combined total. Here’s how the team’s stack up against each other:

Team Balance Beam Average – 49.600

Alabama senior Aja Sims will be a big boost to juniors Nickie Guerrero and Kiana Winston (aka the Lethal Weapon) as all three gymnasts have scored above 9.950 on the balance beam. The Crimson Tide has the best average score of all four teams in this event but struggled recently against Iowa State.

LSU junior Mya Hambrick leads the Tigers with the best average score in this event.  But her scores have not been consistent this season.

Once again, Florida junior Alex McCurty will be the best weapon in this event, as she scored a 9.95 three times this season for the Gators.
