Alabama Football’s Top Ten Moments of the Decade
9. 2015: Ryan Anderson’s fumble recovery secures victory over Tennessee
Despite not having lost to Tennessee since 2006, the Vols have made it interesting occasionally over the years. In 2015, the two met for a low scoring game that gave the Tide quite a scare on their way to a championship.
Derrick Henry ran the ball in for a 14-yard touchdown run to give the Tide a 19-14 lead with roughly two minutes remaining on the clock. After a failed two point conversion, the Vols began their trek down the field for a game winning drive. With one minute left, Ryan Anderson sacked Joshua Dobbs and forced a fumble securing the W over the Vols.
8. 2009: Greg McElroy’s game-winning touchdown pass over Auburn
A perfect regular season record was on the line when the Alabama Football team traveled to Jordan Hare in 2009. The Tigers could only play spoiler as the Tide pursued a title. At the end of the first quarter, those hopes seemed dismal as the Tigers jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead.
It was third and three with 1:24 left on the clock with the Tigers leading by one and the Tide driving on the Auburn four yard line. After consecutive rushes by Trent Richardson, few were expecting a pass from Greg McElroy to Roy Upchurch for the go-ahead touchdown. The Tide went up 26-21 and secured their second perfect regular season record in a row.
