3. 2016: Kenyan Drake kick return touchdown in National Championship

The 2016 National Championship game was high scoring and back and forth between the Alabama Football team and Clemson Tigers. It was a game where momentum was huge, and the Tide needed a spark.

In the fourth quarter with less than eight minutes remaining in the game, Kenyan Drake provided that spark. He returned a kickoff 95 yards capped off with pylon-diving touchdown to give the Crimson Tide a two possession lead of 38-27. The momentum shift was just what the Tide needed to finish the game strong to win their 16th National Championship.

After a long slow game full of defense and field goals, the Vols lined up for what would be a game winning 44-yard field goal. It seemed almost a guarantee that the top ranked Tide would fall to the Vols led by Lane Kiffin and end their perfect season on the third Saturday in October.

Terrance Cody had other plans. The 6’4 370 lb monster- affectionately and appropriately known as Mount Cody- pushed through the Tennessee line to block the kick and preserve the Tide’s perfect season.
