The 2020 Virtual Draft will hopefully take place without any significant technical glitches. The NFL Network, ESPN and ABC will provide televised coverage beginning at 7:00 PM, CST.

The Bama Hammer team has shared lots of opinions on who we expect to go where. Whether those mock drafts were accurate or flawed will not matter once the first selection is made. The ‘real’ Draft affects the futures of NFL teams. Players’ lives will be forever changed.

A few things can be known in advance. The SEC, led by the Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU will dominate the first round. Alabama Crimson Tide fans will celebrate Nick Saban setting another record. Depending on claimed versus counted, Nick Saban may have tied the NFL Draft record of 34 first-round players last year. It was widely reported Nick set a new record by passing Joe Paterno and Bobby Bowden.

A minor dispute is Butch Davis claims 36 first-round players. He is generally credited with no more than 34. Whether the correct number for Davis is 34 or 36 will not matter after tonight. Nick Saban will reach 38, 39 or 40 in the 2020 Draft.

If the Alabama Crimson Tide has five first-round selections tonight, it will set a new team record. The Tide record is four and was reached in 2011, 2012, 2017 and 2018.
