Realistic expectations for Alabama football’s defense

The young secondary takes strides

Alabama football needs for the young secondary to improve quickly, but it will take time. Experience is limited, but Patrick Surtain should be able to help matters. Jordan Battle deserves more credit for his impact last year, and he should also grow in 2020.

The defensive line has a strong rotation

Alabama will have a strong starting defensive line in 2020, but it will be best for the Crimson Tide to have a rotation. In previous years, Alabama has worked in six to seven defensive linemen, depending on the situation. If some backup linemen can prove that they can handle significant snaps, it would keep the Tide rested on the D-line.

Dylan Moses is back to his old self

It really hurt Alabama when Dylan Moses went down with an injury last year. They had to start two freshmen at inside linebacker, and the struggles were apparent. With him coming back, he simply needs to be at least 80 percent of his old self. Pairing that with an improved Christian Harris will be great for the Tide defense.

I would love to see Alabama get 25 sacks in the regular season, but we have to simplify these goals. If Alabama football can do these six things, they will be in good hands for the upcoming college football season.
