Alabama football’s best 5-star prospects: 45-41

45. B.J. Scott

B.J. Scott was at Alabama for a few seasons before inevitably transferring. He registered stats with the Tide, which puts him ahead of some of the other former 5-stars. He had a successful season with South Alabama to wrap up his college football career.

44. Eyabi Anoma

Eyabi Anoma was another star who never panned out for the Crimson Tide. He’s one of the highest-rated player to ever play for Alabama, and he flashed early potential. However, he was not going to work out for four years. He transferred to Houston and was later dismissed. This is one of the more troubling stories for Alabama. We all hope he can turn his life around with a new team.

43. Tyler Love

Love was supposed to be one of the best offensive tackles in Alabama football history. However, injuries plagued his college career. He stayed in Tuscaloosa and overcame a lot of adversity. He didn’t succeed in the conventional sense, but he graduated from UA and has championship rings on his finger.

42. Blake Barnett

Barnett is Nick Saban’s highest-rated quarterback prospect outside of Bryce Young. He was supposed to change the game for the Crimson Tide. Unfortunately for Barnett, he never really got a chance. He struggled in his first game, and Saban benched him for Jalen Hurts. Hurts went on to be one of Alabama’s best quarterbacks ever, and Barnett went on to play for two other college football teams.

41. Phillip Sims

Few fans will remember this, but A.J. McCarron almost never won the starting job for the Crimson Tide. He was in a contested quarterback battle with Phillip Sims, a highly-touted recruit that many believed would be the face of the Crimson Tide. McCarron beat out the freshman, and Phillip Sims transferred after one season. It’s always challenging with quarterbacks since only one can play at a time.
