Alabama Football: 2020 preseason SEC power rankings

SEC football power rankings: Alabama football’s bitter rival
4. Auburn Tigers
Is it gutsy to put Auburn ahead of the reigning champion? Probably. But the Tigers have continuity, and that goes a long way in an unprecedented 2020 season. Having the same quarterback and head coach will help them more than just about anything this year.
They also have one of the fastest players in college football with Anthony Schwartz. Gus will have plenty of fun scheming up plays to get Schwartz out in the open field.
Losing so many keys on the defensive side of the ball will hurt the Tigers, but they are in prime position to win the SEC West if a few things go their way. However, they will still have to go through Alabama football and other SEC teams.
3. Georgia Bulldogs
Plenty of people believe that UGA is the second-best team in SEC football. However, I have a lot of questions about their quarterback position. The Bulldogs landed two transfer quarterbacks this offseason, and neither of them will start in the season opener. Jamie Newman is opting out to prepare for the NFL Draft, and JT Daniels is still trying to recover from last year’s injury.
Georgia has to play Florida, Auburn, and Alabama this year. It will be hard for the Bulldogs to go undefeated with that kind of slate. Once Daniels is fully healthy, UGA will be a top SEC team. Until then, there are two teams I’d pick over them.
