3 keys for Alabama football to dominate vs. Texas A&M

Mac Jones needs to keep taking deep shots down the field

The Joker let it fly against Missouri, and it turned out to be great for the Crimson Tide. He distributed the ball evenly to all receivers, gave the running backs some love, and even threw it to a tight end for a big gain.

Alabama could likely win this game with a balanced running attack and the occasional play-action pass down the field, but that wouldn’t be enough to dominate. Texas A&M has a quality defense, and they will keep pace with Alabama if they don’t take some deep shots. However, this group of wide receivers has what it takes to tear apart any defense. Mac will find the right target and take his shots.

This has its risks, but Jones is not necessarily turnover prone as a quarterback. He can analyze the defense and make the right decision, and he proved that again in the Missouri win.

Alabama’s offense will still have balance. Mac will find easy plays to make, Najee will still eat up the front seven, and the play-action passes will be fruitful. However, a crucial part of destroying the Aggie defense will be launching the ball deep down the field. With Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith on the outside, you have to play to their strengths. That includes being a vertical offense, and I expect to see plenty of deep routes this Saturday.
