Alabama football’s report card vs. Auburn

Offensive line: A-

The Alabama offensive line has been one of the best in college football. They are certainly in the race for the Joe Moore Award, and the interior of the offensive line has improved as the season has progressed. However, the key has always been avoiding pre-snap penalties. Those hurt Alabama football in last year’s Iron Bowl.

While Najee Harris wasn’t given many running lanes early, things picked up over the course of the game. Mac Jones also had a clean pocket for most of this game.

Defensive line: A

Alabama’s defensive line has been sneakily solid this season. While they have failed to get sack production, they are getting pressure on quarterbacks. They were tasked with limiting Bo Nix as a dual-threat quarterback.

Tim Smith got more snaps in this game, and he made the most of them. He muddied the line of scrimmage, and he also poked a ball loose on a tackle. Auburn ended up recovering, but Smith did his job.

Barmore played well against an injured Auburn O-line. All in all, this unit has improved all year. They took steps in the right direction this game, and they were a great reason why Auburn struggled to get things going offensively.
