Bold predictions for Alabama football vs. LSU Tigers

4. LSU won’t cross midfield in the first half

In the national championship between Alabama football and LSU a few years ago, LSU struggled mightily on offense. They had multiple turnovers and failed to score all game. The defense was so stifling that the Tigers couldn’t cross midfield for nearly the entire game.

Alabama’s 2020 defense is not as good as that championship defense led by Dont’a Hightower, However, LSU’s offense is somehow even worse than it was in 2011. Without their two best receivers heading into 2020, they will struggle to move the chains on offense.

Alabama’s defense will be looking to make a statement in this game. While this will be a tough challenge, it would certainly make that statement that fans are hoping for.

LSU might be able to move the ball later in the game when Alabama puts in their backup players, but the starters should take every first down as a personal insult. They need to step up from their first rep to their last. It will be tough, but Alabama’s defense could easily stop LSU from crossing midfield. If not, they should at least keep the Tigers out of the red zone.

This also means that Alabama’s offense needs to avoid turnovers and that their special teams need to avoid quality field position. Those are essentially a given in this game for the Tide to roll.
