Alabama football had plenty of studs vs. LSU

It took over a year, but Alabama football finally got to restore balance to college football with a dominant win against the LSU Tigers. Ed Orgeron’s mouth finally caught up to him on Saturday as the Crimson Tide scored the most points ever in this rivalry.

Alabama aced this test, but not everything went right. There were some errors on defense that let LSU march down the field. Alabama’s offensive line was solid, but some penalties were called. Needless to say, Nick Saban will find things to be upset about as the team prepares for their next game against Arkansas.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the studs and duds from this win for Alabama football.

Stud: DeVonta Smith

I mean, what can be said about this guy? Smitty is the best receiver in college football. He was expected to have a good senior season, but he has exceeded every possible expectation. By the time he is playing in the NFL, he might be the best wide receiver in Alabama football history.

After some of his previous performances, I decided to only include him as a stud if he did something truly stellar. Even when you grade Smitty on an unprecedented scale, he aced this test against the so-called DBU. He had it all. Receptions, yards, touchdowns and highlight plays were added to his resume against the LSU Tigers.

Smith deserves Heisman consideration. After this game, he should be a lock to win the Biletnikoff award. He is making Alabama proud, and he was definitely a stud in this rivalry game on the road.
