Alabama football’s studs and duds vs. Arkansas

Stud: Mac Jones’s patience

This was the one thing that Alabama football fans wished Tua would do. Tagovailoa always forced the football down the field. This usually worked, but it also kept the Crimson Tide from sustaining long drives when necessary. However, Mac Jones was very patient with his shots in this game. He took what the defense gave him, and that was more than enough for the Crimson Tide to dominate.

Many will use this as a knock on Mac Jones. They’ll say that he doesn’t trust himself to take shots down the field. That could not be further from the truth. He has taken risks in tight coverage before, and they usually pay off. In this game, he played it safe. That did not help boost his stats, but it helped the Crimson Tide score on multiple occasions.

Stud: Will Anderson

As a true freshman, Will Anderson is second on the team in sacks. That alone is impressive. What makes his play even better is that all of his sacks have come in Alabama’s last three games. He had one sack in the Iron Bowl and two against LSU. Against the Razorbacks, he added two more to his name.

Anderson has always been solid, but his talent is finally translating to production. He is peaking at the perfect time, and he will play a pivotal role in the rest of Alabama’s games. This was yet another step in the right direction for the future star.
