This is a great win for Alabama basketball.

With every game, Alabama basketball tightens its grip on the SEC regular-season title. The same can be said after beating the Georgia Bulldogs at home on Saturday.

Alabama looked strong in Coleman Coliseum. In fact, they set a record for points scored in an SEC game with 115. While Georgia scored 82, this game did not feel close for the majority of the second half.

Herb Jones was the Tide’s top player against the Bulldogs. He scored a career-best 21 points while racking up 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks. His most impressive feat was going 3-4 from the perimeter. Shooting outside of the paint was Jones’s biggest weakness for three years, but he is now officially a threat to score from outside.

Jones has been struggling with injuries all year, but he seemed to be healthy in this game. With a back injury, he has been playing through the pain in recent weeks. In this game, he showed his determination and toughness.

Alabama went 18-30 from three as a team. Shooting has been a strength all year, but it has been volatile in recent weeks. Without shots falling, Alabama has to rely on stout defense to win games. When shots fall, they have practically no chance of losing.

Alabama appears to be a lock to win the SEC title, but they still have a few tough tests. They will travel to play the gritty Arkansas Razorbacks, and their final game of the regular season will be against the Auburn Tigers, Alabama basketball’s bitter rival.

Alabama has hopes of securing a one-seed in the NCAA Tournament. They are currently a two-seed, but they have plenty of basketball to play before the seeding is finalized. If they can keep performing as they did against Georgia, they will be close to the one-line.

Alabama basketball is ready to win the SEC, but they have their eyes set on bigger prizes. There is still plenty to determine, but Alabama is still trending upward as the season approaches its ending.
