Perfect NFL landing spots for Alex Leatherwood

2. Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City has a unique problem that must be solved. They love both of their tackles, but an Achilles injury will keep one of them out for most of 2021. Assuming he recovers, he will take back his starting role immediately. The Chiefs also don’t have a ton of cap space to sign a quality left tackle for this season.

Alongside the tackle issues, the Chiefs have to improve the interior of the line. This is what makes Alex Leatherwood such a great fit. The Chiefs will likely need to address the offensive line in the 2021 NFL Draft. Leatherwood played tackle and guard at a high level for Alabama football. He could start at tackle his rookie season before switching to guard once both tackles are fully healthy. If something changes down the line, he can move back to left tackle. There would be a lot of pressure protecting Patrick Mahomes’s blind side, but Leatherwood knows all about pressure.

It wouldn’t be ideal for Leatherwood to shift to guard, but this landing spot would likely win Alex Leatherwood a Super Bowl. He might win more Super Bowls than national championships with Alabama football, and that is going to be hard to do. If the Chiefs draft Leatherwood at the end of the first round, it would be a win for both sides.
