Worst landing spots for Alabama football’s Mac Jones

2. Washington Football Team

There are a few things that make this landing spot attractive. Washington has a respected head coach, which is rare for NFL teams without a quarterback. The NFC East is also the worst division in the NFL, and this team just made the playoffs.

However, Washington has a clear ceiling until they fix a few problems on offense. They need a deeper receiving corps and a difference-maker at running back. The offensive line needs help, and most of these solutions are not being developed on the roster. Instead, Washington has focused on building one of the best defensive lines in the NFC.

When a quarterback falls out of the top 10, the expectation is that they are going to a better situation. Lamar Jackson is a great example of this. However, Washington overachieved, and they are not as good as their draft placement would suggest.

Mac Jones might win more games here, but he would not be in a position to succeed. It would be better for him to learn behind a veteran quarterback on a quality team like Pittsburgh or Tampa Bay. Even with Alabama football players on the defensive line, this fit isn’t great for Jones. He would be asked to start too early, and the talent around him would be worse than what he had in Tuscaloosa.
