Alabama Football: NFL free agency landing spots for Mark Ingram
By Dakota Cox
NFL free agency fits for Alabama football’s Mark Ingram
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
Mark Ingram doesn’t seem to be a vengeful guy. That being said, he just got cut from a team that he helped build, and he got benched late in the year to ensure that they would be able to cut him. If he wants revenge on the Ravens, the best landing spot is their rival in the AFC North.
Also, the Steelers need to add a quality running back. Their offensive line is aging, and they can’t rely on James Conner to make something happen without more support. They will address the offensive line and potentially quarterback in the draft, so it will be hard to also draft a running back. Unless they draft Alabama football’s Najee Harris in the first round, I don’t see them drafting a starting-caliber running back.
That makes this landing spot intriguing. The Steelers are another team with a bad cap situation, but they could make it work if they valued Ingram’s leadership enough. He would increase the standard and be ready to start this season.
Ingram is too old to believe that he will be one of the best running backs in the NFL. That being said, he is certainly an improvement in Pittsburgh. It would be a smart signing for both parties.
