Alabama football’s Najee Harris might struggle on these NFL teams

Alabama football has a mixed history of sending running backs to the NFL. The best has clearly been Derrick Henry. He has led the NFL in rushing yards for the past two seasons with the Tennessee Titans. Other backs have had successful seasons, like Mark Ingram and Josh Jacobs. However, players like Eddie Lacy and Trent Richardson failed in the NFL.

The next back to be tested will be Najee Harris, one of the most successful players in Alabama football history. Harris seems to be a complete back and exactly what the NFL is looking for, but his landing spot will matter.

Najee Might succeed anywhere, but all of the pressure of the offense doesn’t need to be on his shoulders. We’ve seen that with Saquon Barkley in New York. He could also play well with a quality quarterback who looks for the running back.

We’ve already seen the best landing spots for Najee Harris in the 2021 NFL Draft, but what about the worst spots?

3. Atlanta Falcons

This would put Harris with some other Alabama football players in Atlanta, and he would be in some clean jerseys. However, there isn’t much else that would attract him to the Falcons.

Atlanta drafts early in the first and second rounds. Without a trade, this would mean that Harris would be a second-round back, severely hurting his earnings. Also, Atlanta has issues with the offensive line that must be fixed. If they draft a quarterback in the first round, Harris will be a part of a rebuild, which would not be ideal.

Another good thing about Atlanta is that their new head coach had success running the ball with Derrick Henry in Tennessee. However, Najee Harris is not the same back as Henry. He can be a power back, but he’s better when he relies on his agility instead. This might be a square peg in a round hole.
