Alabama Football: 2021 NFL Mock Draft 2.0 with trades

Denver passes on an Alabama football corner for Farley
9. Denver Broncos: Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
Denver could draft Mac Jones here, but I see them either trying to land Watson or sticking with Lock for one more season. If they fail, they will be back near the top of the draft in 2022. There is no reason to draft the fifth quarterback when you have one on a rookie deal and you’re not trying to win right away.
If they pass on a quarterback, they will likely take a corner in the first round. With the two best offensive linemen off of the board, this is where the value dictates they go.
When you have to play the Chiefs, Raiders and Chargers in your division, you have to be strong in the secondary. The speed and skill in this division is arguably the best in the NFL, so the Broncos must improve.
I believe that Alabama football’s Patrick Surtain is a better prospect, but the Broncos might like the fit of Farley. Surtain is better in press coverage, and that is tough to do against the speed of the AFC West.
Farley opted out of the 2020 season, but that won’t do much to hurt his 2021 NFL Draft stock. As long as he has a solid pro day, he will be in the discussion to be the first corner off of the board.
