Alabama football will host 50,000 fans for A Day Game

Half of Bryant-Denny Stadium’s seats will be filled for Alabama football’s scrimmage
After the lifting of some government regulations and the adaption of CDC protocols, Alabama announced that they will fill Bryant-Denny Stadium to half capacity for Alabama football’s A Day Game this month. That means that over 50,000 fans will be able to watch the Crimson Tide play this spring.
Many Alabama football fans have been unable to watch the Crimson Tide since the 2019 season due to increased ticket prices and capacity guidelines. While many stars from last year’s team will be preparing for the NFL Draft instead, some key players will be on display from the 2020 championship team. Alabama football returns multiple starters on the offensive line, depth at running back and Jahleel Billingsley and John Metchie. On defense, players like Will Anderson, Malachi Moore, Christian Harris and Christopher Allen are returning.
This will also be many fans’ first time to see the renovated stadium. After the 2019 season, Alabama began a multi-million dollar renovation to Bryant-Denny Stadium that included removing seats and adding new jumbotrons. These updates were going to keep the Tide from playing 2020’s A Day Game in the stadium, but the spring practices were canceled due to COVID-19, rendering that point moot.
While more fans will be allowed, they will still be required to wear masks in the stadium unless they are eating or drinking.
With over 50,000 tickets available, Alabama will be able to host all students and many fans for this spring scrimmage. Since many students were unable to attend games during the Tide’s championship run, this will give seniors one final chance to watch Alabama football as a student before graduating.
The game will give fans a first glimpse of Bryce Young as the potential starting quarterback. He will face off against the first-team defense, so he will be fully tested in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
While fans hope to safely fill Bryant-Denny Stadium in the fall, they will still be able to host more fans for the A Day Game than they did during any game of the 2020 season.
