Alabama football’s report card vs. LSU
Cornerbacks: B
There were some coverage issues in this game, but the secondary was overall solid. Some penalties didn’t go Alabama’s way, but the unit did what they needed to do.
Jalyn Armour-Davis had a nice interception because he was in the right place at the right time. Besides that play, the unit mostly stayed in stride in man coverage. JAD also suffered an injury that left him out of the game.
Josh Jobe did not start, but he was available if he needed to play. Once Alabama suffered an injury, he came in. That speaks to the lack of depth at the position, but Jobe played well when he was in the game. Koolaid McKinstry also played well as a starter, so the Tide have at least one young member of the secondary ready to contribute for the coming years.
Safeties: B-
Alabama has shifted the starting lineup repeatedly this year. DeMarcco Hellams is back to contributing after Daniel Wright struggled against Tennessee, and he had a decent game. There were a few tackles that could have been better, but he did his job.
Jordan Battle was solid in coverage, but there were still some lapses from the unit as a whole. The group has experience, but no specific player is the mauler that makes receivers scared to reach out for a catch.
