Georgia fans are gushing with confidence the Dawgs have Alabama Football’s number. Many of them are predicting a one-sided game, that heals all the old wounds from a string of losses to the Crimson Tide.

The fanbase for Georgia has swelled this week. Even fans of teams that normally hate the Bulldogs are pulling for a Georgia beatdown. None of this is a surprise to Alabama football fans, who not only accept being college football’s most-hated; but often rejoice in it.

Check out a sampling of the national sentiment about the SEC Championship game.

It is suspected Rob’s tweet underestimates the percentage of college football fans who agree with him. Take away Alabama football fans and the number must be around 95%.

The other component of this week’s Bama hate is how the Georgia game is being defined as a tipping point for college football. It is obvious many not regular Georgia fans will root more for the Crimson Tide to lose than they will for the Bulldogs to win.

The logic behind the misplaced rancor is that a toppling of the Crimson Tide will suddenly solve all the ills of college football. That argument gets wrapped into widespread dissatisfaction with the four-team College Football Playoff format.

Thank you, Chris, for your opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion – even when it is nonsense. As was discussed in a recent post on where the Crimson Tide should be ranked on Sunday, a quick review of the Bearcats’ season shows a team undeserving of a final four slot. Cincinnati has beaten five teams with losing records and two teams at 6-6. The combined record of the five teams with losing seasons is 12-47. By comparison, only two teams the Crimson Tide has beaten have losing records.

Give the Bearcats a trophy for being outstanding against bad teams. Put them in a major bowl because they beat Notre Dame, but they have no legit claim on being a final four team.

Returning to a conversation about elite college football teams, the Georgia Bulldogs are undoubtedly this season’s best team. Whether they will be the best team on Saturday remains to be seen.

The history between the Tide and the Dawgs will have no impact on current Georgia players. For everyone else associated with the program, it will weigh heavily. Speaking of the current six-game streak, Dawn of the Dawg wrote,

"Georgia has not only lost six times, but they have also done so in every way imaginable as well as unimaginable.Painfully let me walk you down memory lane.  It will not be fun because, let’s face it,  our lives as Georgia fans could, no, would be so much different minus Alabama and Nick Saban."

The weight of all that history is a heavy burden on the shoulders of Kirby Smart. Saturday in Atlanta no individual will face as much adversity as the former Crimson Tide assistant.

Next. Make Stetson Bennett be the offense. dark

On Saturday, each team will face its toughest opponent of the season. At this point of the season, there could be nothing better.
