- No. 2 (tie) – Alabama – O’Brien and Golding; Georgia – Will Muschamp, Glenn Schumann (DCs) and Todd Monken (OC); Tennessee – Josh Heupel (OC) and Tim Banks (DC) – 19 points
- No. 5 – LSU – Matt House(DC) and Mike Denbrock (OC) – 18 points
- No. 6 (tie) – Texas A&M – D.J. Durkin (DC) and Jimbo Fisher (OC); Mississippi State – Mike Leach (OC) and Zach Burnett (DC) – 17 points
- No. 8 (tie) – Ole Miss – Lane Kiffin (OC) and Maurice Crum and Chris Partridge (DCs); Kentucky – Rich Scangarello (OC) and Brad White (DC) – 14 points

Using Bratton’s rankings as a guide, Alabama football fans might consider Arkansas and Tennessee will provide the Crimson Tide with a serious challenge.
