For Alabama football to bring home the 2022 national championship, it will have to win some tough games in hostile road environments. The 2021 team surely had its share of struggles on the road.

Last season, Alabama Football escaped both the Swamp and Jordan-Hare Stadium by the results of a two-point conversion. Auburn and Florida turned out to be mediocre teams, each finishing the season with a 6-7 record. Alabama also dropped a nail-biter on the road at Texas A&M, who went 8-4.

In 2022, it will face five difficult opponents on the road, starting with a non-conference bout at Texas on September 10th.

Alabama Football: Difficult SEC Road Slate

In the league, Alabama will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana to take on three foes that actually gave the Tide headaches in Bryant-Denny last year. Finally, the Crimson Tide will head to Oxford to take on Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss. Vaught-Hemingway Stadium hasn’t always been kind to Nick Saban. Though he has never beaten the master, Kiffin has also given Saban his share of problems.

Alabama’s entire conference road schedule, consisting of Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU, and Ole Miss, could be an absolute gauntlet. I think all four of these SEC road trips could potentially be tough and unique games for the Tide this year. These are four talented teams with measurable home field advantages, and Alabama always gets everyone’s best shot (both from its opponent and the crowd).

Alabama football fans would love to see an undefeated season, but the reality is the Tide can probably afford to lose one game and still finish the season as national champs. Any more than one loss, however, and the season might as well be over.

Let’s hope the 2022 Crimson Tide learned a lot from the series of close games it played last year, because I have a feeling they will need to win some tough ones to bring home the title this season.
