Alabama Basketball keeps it rolling against Vanderbilt
Amidst the tragedy involving one of its former members, Alabama basketball maintained its focus and beat Vanderbilt on the road 78-66.
Despite not playing exceptionally well, the Crimson Tide took care of business. It shot just 26.7 percent from the three-point line, wasn’t as dominant as usual on the glass, and had more turnovers than assists, yet Alabama controlled the game from tip to finish.
Brandon Miller finished with 30 points and 10 rebounds on an efficient 10-16 shooting. This game was his third time eclipsing the 30-point mark and his fourth double-double this season. It also marked Miller’s second straight 30-point outburst.
Fellow freshman Jaden Bradley and senior forward Noah Gurley chipped in 12 points each. Noah Clowney and Charles Bediako combined for 13 points and 15 rebounds on the interior.
For the Commodores, Tyrin Lawrence led the way with 20 points and five rebounds. Off the bench, wing Jordan Wright added 15 points and six rebounds, while guard Ezra Manjon scored 11 points.
On a day when shots weren’t falling consistently for Alabama basketball, the Tide won with its defensive play. For the game, it held Vanderbilt to 30 percent shooting from the field, including just 18 percent from the three-point line.
Alabama has been one of the most efficient teams in the country at both ends of the floor, and has the capability to win games even when it has a rough game in one facet.
This was yet another impressive win for an Alabama basketball team that is dealing with a lot off the court. It was the seventh straight victory for the Tide, who improved to 16-2 and 6-0 in the SEC.
Things won’t get easier for this team on the court or otherwise, but Coach Nate Oats and Alabama will work to maintain their position on the SEC throne.
The Crimson Tide will take the court again on Saturday evening, when it plays a pretty good Missouri team on the road.
