Alabama Crimson Tide News & Notes
Alabama Crimson Tide athletics is in a busy time of the year, with the second semester underway and multiple sports in-season.
The men’s basketball team is entering the meat of its SEC schedule, currently sitting at 16-2 and 6-0 in the conference. It features star freshmen Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney, sharpshooting guard Mark Sears, and invaluable veterans like Jahvon Quinerly and Noah Gurley coming off the bench.
The women’s basketball team isn’t far behind. The Lady Crimson Tide are 15-4 and 4-2 in the SEC, riding a three-game win streak into a massive home showdown with LSU. Grad student Brittany Davis, one of the top players in the conference, leads the team in scoring, rebounding, and steals.
Both basketball teams hope to finish the year strong, peaking as they head into March and postseason play.
Alabama Crimson Tide Football News
The Alabama football team looks to bounce back after going two straight seasons without a national championship. Coach Nick Saban’s team is getting its roster together, with the transfer portal closed until after spring practice and a loaded recruiting class coming in.
The football team is still awaiting coaching staff changes, which will likely include both coordinators. Once the coaching staff is set in stone, Alabama should be prepared to turn its attention to spring practice.
Alabama Football still has plenty of on-field questions to answer, with perhaps the most important being figuring out its starting quarterback. It also seeks to develop its receivers to take the next step, and plug some holes on the offensive line. On the other side of the ball, Bama will have key position battles at inside linebacker and safety, among other spots.
Alabama Crimson Tide: 2023 recruiting comes to a close
5-star cornerback Cormani McClain was widely considered to be the final possible piece to Alabama’s 2023 recruiting class. It was a long shot for the Tide to land McClain, but Bama remained a finalist until the end. McClain, who was previously a Miami commit, flipped his verbal commitment to Deion Sanders and Colorado shortly after a visit to snowy Boulder.
Nothing is official until he signs a National Letter of Intent, which he can’t do until February 1st, but Cormani McClain seems firmly committed to Colorado.
Even without McClain, Alabama landed one of the best secondary classes of all time, led by 5-star safety Caleb Downs and 5-star corner Desmond Ricks.
