Alabama Football brought in a historic 2023 recruiting haul, and a lot of the members of that class are already on campus and making an impact. However, recruiting never stops, and Coach Nick Saban and his staff are squarely focused on the next cycle. How will the Crimson Tide fare in the next recruiting class?

Bama currently ranks 17th nationally with four commitments in its 2024 class. While this may seem alarmingly low to some, the Tide has a tendency to start slow. Coach Saban is very selective with the players he takes, and is in no rush to fill up the boat before fall.

Compared to most cycles, Alabama actually got out to a quick start in this class before things quieted down. There hasn’t been much tangible movement in months, with the exception of the de-commitment of athlete Martavious Collins.

Alabama Football: 2024 Commitments

So far, Saban has landed commitments from the following players:

  • 5-star quarterback Julian Sayin
  • 5-star athlete Jaylen Mbakwe
  • 4-star wide receiver Perry Thompson
  • 4-star edge Sterling Dixon

This quartet gives Alabama Football a solid foundation in its 2024 class. Julian Sayin, who also happens to be the highest-rated current commit, is the most important member of the class. With an elite quarterback on board, the coaching staff can build around Sayin going forward.

Mbakwe is one of the best athletes in the country, and primarily plays defensive back. Alabama was dominant recruiting defensive backs in the 2023 cycle, and Jaylen Mbakwe would continue that trend.

Even as a borderline 5-star recruit, there seems to be a feeling around the state that wide receiver Perry Thompson is underrated. The Foley native is incredibly gifted and has the ceiling to be one of the Bama greats at wideout. He is a physical specimen at 6’3” and a track star who broke Julio Jones’ single-season record for receptions at Foley.

Linebacker Sterling Dixon is a playmaker in the mold of the new-age college linebacker. He isn’t as big as a traditional linebacker, but he can cover a lot of ground.

Other key targets Alabama Football is pursuing in the 2024 class include a quartet of 5-star defenders in safety KJ Bolden and edge rushers Dylan Stewart, Colin Simmons, and Eddrick Houston.

Next. Bama needs difference makers. dark

Of course, Bama is also after many more players, but these are some of the big names in 2024.
