Although there is no official Alabama Football depth chart being released prior to the first game this year, the Crimson Tide will have to finally show its hand on Saturday when the 2023 season kicks off.

Scrimmages, open practices, and insider intel have painted a mostly-reliable picture of Bama’s 2023 depth chart. The Alabama offense features a bunch of offensive weapons that enter this season with high expectations, but what is the pecking order?

Alabama Football Running Back Room

RB1: Jase McClellan

RB2: Roydell Williams OR Jam Miller

RB3: Justice Haynes

This Bama RB room is deep. Jase McClellan will probably run with the first team, as the incumbent and the most experienced back in the room. Look for McClellan to add to his 1,300 yards from scrimmage and 17 total touchdowns. Fellow senior Roydell Williams is the most physical back amongst the group. He is arguably the Crimson Tide’s best runner between the tackles, and he excels in pass protection. Williams will get plenty of first-team reps, particularly in short yardage situations and on third downs.

Sophomore Jam Miller was electric in fall camp. He has been so impressive that there’s now a growing opinion that he will be RB1 by the end of the season. True freshman spring enrollee Justice Haynes could have the highest ceiling of any member of the RB room. His versatility and explosiveness will make it impossible to keep him off the field. Summer enrollee Richard Young could be a redshirt candidate in such a crowded room.

Alabama Football Wide Receiver Room

WR-X Ja’Corey Brooks OR Kendrick Law

WR-Z Jermaine Burton OR Malik Benson

WR-H Isaiah Bond OR Kobe Prentice

Alabama Football will deploy a nearly interchangeable two-deep at wide receiver this season.

Senior Jermaine Burton and junior Ja’Corey Brooks are back after leading the team in receiving last year. Sophomores Isaiah Bond, Kendrick Law, and Kobe Prentice all return after gaining valuable experience as true freshmen in 2022. The new addition is speedy junior Malik Benson, who was the top overall JUCO prospect in the nation in the class of 2023.

The most exciting thing about this wideout room is that a legitimate argument could be made for any of these six receivers to have a breakout season.

Sophomore Emmanuel Henderson could also enter the equation. Redshirt freshman Shazz Preston provides depth along with true freshmen Jalen Hale, Jaren Hamilton, and Cole Adams.

Alabama Football Tight End Room

TE1: CJ Dippre

TE2: Danny Lewis Jr. OR Amari Niblack

TE3: Robbie Ouzts

Just like at running back and receiver, Alabama Football will use a lot of bodies at the tight end position in 2023. The committee approach allows the offense to be flexible and create mismatches all over the field.

Maryland transfer CJ Dippre is the most experienced and well-rounded member of the group. He should fill in admirably for NFL Draft selection Cameron Latu, if not be a slight upgrade. Sophomore Amari Niblack is primarily a receiver. He will often flex out wide and create matchup nightmares for opposing defensive coordinators.

Redshirt freshman Danny Lewis Jr. is improving rapidly, and is similar to Dippre in his ability to be equally effective as a blocker and as a receiver. Junior Robbie Ouzts is arguably the best blocker of the group, and will continue to serve as a hybrid fullback/H-Back for the Crimson Tide. Expect to see no. 45 in goal line packages.
