Alabama Football goes on the road to Starkville, Mississippi this week, looking to improve to 2-0 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide took down Ole Miss at home last week, and has the opportunity to complete the season sweep of the Magnolia State with a win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs tonight.

Last week’s bold predictions did pretty well. I went into the Ole Miss game with cautious optimism regarding newly-minted starting quarterback Jalen Milroe, expecting he would quell some doubts against the Rebels. I projected that Milroe would prove he could play winning football for the Tide while still showing plenty of room for improvement, and he did just that.

Bold prediction no. 2 was that a new weapon would emerge on offense for Alabama Football. I tried to cover all my bases, listing names such as Jam Miller, Justice Haynes, Ja’Corey Brooks, Kendrick Law, and Danny Lewis Jr.

Instead, true freshman wide receiver Jalen Hale burst onto the scene, making two big catches including a long touchdown. It will be fascinating to see if Hale continues to be a major contributor going forward.

The final bold prediction was that special teams would decide the game, but this wasn’t necessarily the case. In hindsight, I would say the Alabama defense ultimately decided last week’s game.

Still, the Bama special teams made some big plays, including a blocked punt in the first half. While it failed to capitalize on the play with a touchdown, the block led to one of three Will Reichard field goals. The Bama special teams continue to be a strength, and they should positively influence close games as the season progresses.

With all that being said, here are my three bold predictions for week five, Alabama vs Mississippi State.
