Alabama Football: Will Reichard is chasing history

As the Alabama Football team enters Saturday’s game against the Chattanooga Moc’s not only will senior kicker Will Reichard be playing his last home game he’ll be kicking his way towards history. As we stand Will Reichard has 509 career points third all-time in College Football history. He currently sits 13 points behind former Louisiana Tech running back Kenneth Dixon and 21 points behind former Navy Quarterback Keenan Reynolds. Reichard should have at minimum four games to chase down the all-time points record with games left against Chattanooga, Auburn, Georgia, and a bowl game with the potential for more if Alabama makes the College Football Playoff. Earlier this season Reichard etched his name atop SEC record books passing former Auburn Kicker Daniel Carlson for the conference all-time mark.

The achievement isn’t something Reichard’s focused on saying the following,

"I think when my career is over I’ll really care about it but right now, not too concerned about it honestly. I’m more focused on being able to play well this week and kind of continue to prepare to play well and continue to practice well, and continue to grow."

Alabama Football: Reichard could add to a storied program

The Alabama Football program is one of if not the most storied teams in all of sports. With 18 national titles, Four Heisman trophy winners, 29 SEC Championships, and 84 consensus All-Americans there are few organizations in all of sports that can argue having more success. The addition of the leading scorer in the history of college football would be a massive feat for the Alabama Football program. The record would put Reichard among the greatest players to ever play college football and would etch an incredible career in the history books forever.
