The biggest takeaway has to be how week 3 starter Tyler Buchner went from starter to QB4. The former starter did not see the field in the blowout as Ty Simpson relieved Jalen Milroe and Dylan Lonergan relieved Simpson. The former Notre Dame Starter’s lack of playing time was indicative of his standing within the team and it’s becoming pretty clear that he will not be returning to the Capstone next season. With Jalen Milroe and Dylan Lonergan most likely returning next season and the arrival of highly touted recruit Julian Sayin entering the program the path to playing time for Buchner is looking daunting.

The interesting player to watch in the months to come is Ty Simpson. Simpson played excellent in relief of Jalen Milroe except for a moment of one play. Simpson went 4/6 passing for 50 yards and had a 78-yard rush. The problem is the run would have been a 79-yard touchdown run if Simpson had not dropped the ball out of celebration a yard early. The play could have cost the Alabama Football team points and possession if the Mocs jumped on the football. Simpson has had an interesting time in his time at Alabama being recruited to play by Bill O’Brien the change in coordinators hurt his chances of starting this season. There have been rumors that Simpson was looking to move as early as last season and with the emergence of Jalen Milroe it may be unlikely that we see Simpson return as he can find a starting role elsewhere.
