Entering the matchup against the Chattanooga Mocs Alabama Football’s Will Reichard stood 21 points behind Keenan Reynold’s all-time points record in college football and 22 points away from standing alone atop the record books in College Football. Today’s game provided plenty of scoring which gave Reichard nine extra point attempts and one field goal attempt with Reichard going a perfect ten for ten scoring twelve points. For a few drives late in games plenty of fans should’ve been rooting for drives to stall out as it would’ve helped Reichard near closer to the history books.
The twelve points Reichard scored today put him nine points from tying Reynolds with ten giving him the record all by himself. The points tracker sitting at ten means we very well could see the record fall any game now. If Reichard can’t score ten against the Auburn Tigers, this week, then what better stage to break the record than at the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta in a battle for the ages? The monumental moment could energize and motivate an Alabama Football team that will be fighting for its season and provide an extra spark to lead the Crimson Tide over the Georgia Bulldogs.
Saturday’s game was exactly what Reichard needed as he’d missed a few kicks against LSU so the past two games going a combined 17-17 on opportunities has allowed Reichard to get right back into a groove before the most vital stretch of the season.
