After a rough start, Kalen DeBoer and Alabama have rebounded to land an impressive haul in the Transfer Portal. What the class might lack in star power, it more than makes up for in quality depth, particularly on both lines of scrimmage.

Alabama had a goal in mind of improving on both lines of scrimmage, and it has done what it can to make that happen by effectively flipping the roster at both positions.

Alabama has landed 18 scholarship players in the Transfer Portal thus far. While the portal is closed for new entrants, there are still some quality players available that the Crimson Tide should target to fill out some remaining roster spots.

These 3 players could be impactful additions for Alabama late in the Transfer Portal

1. Ja'Kobe Clinton, LB, West Florida

West Florida linebacker Ja'Kobe Clinton is coming off a hyper-productive season at the D-II level, which earned him All-American honors and the Gulf South Conference's Defensive Player of the Year Award.

And he just so happens to be the younger brother of former Alabama All-American safety, and current Director of Player Development, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

Alabama could use a little bit more experience in the linebacker room. The Crimson Tide added Virginia Tech's Caleb Woodson in the Transfer Portal, and has seemingly been content to stand pat with the singular addition despite losing its top three off-ball linebackers from the 2025 roster.

DeBoer and DC Kane Wommack seem to have faith in the younger guys like QB Reese and Cayden Jones to step into a starting role next season.

Adding in Clinton would be a nice failsafe addition, however, and bring quality depth and experience to a young group.

2. Javeon Campbell, EDGE, Kentucky

Alabama could use another player in its on-ball LB room. While there are some who could cross-train, the only sure-fire Wolf LBs on the roster right now are Yhonzae Pierre and Justin Hill. Because of that, versatile 5-star freshman Xavier Griffin will almost certainly have to begin his career there, though he seems likely to end up off-ball.

Kentucky transfer Javeon Campbell is a player Alabama had interest in out of high school, but the 4-star recruit ultimately chose to stay home with the Wildcats. After taking a redshirt as a freshman, Campbell is looking for a new home but has yet to find one.

Campbell would be a purely depth addition for now, but the 6-foot-5, 246-pounder has the potential to develop into a nice player down the road.

3. Gavin Nelson, WR, Monmouth

Alabama has made some under-the-radar additions to the WR room recently, taking fliers on a pair of unranked high school prospects in the 2026 class. That has gotten the room up to nine bodies, but another player with experience who could potentially compete for playing time would be a nice late add.

Two of Alabama's starting spots seem virtually guaranteed to go to Ryan Williams and Lotzeir Brooks. The No. 3 WR will likely come down to a four-horse race between Rico Scott, Derek Meadows, NC State transfer Noah Rogers, and incoming freshman Cederian Morgan. There's a lot of talent in that quartet, but not a ton of experience outside of Rogers.

Monmouth transfer Gavin Nelson is an under-the-radar guy in the portal who could bring quality depth and experience to Tuscaloosa. He has put up 1157 yards and nine touchdowns the past two seasons at the FCS level and should be able to make the leap to the FBS level rather seamlessly.

He just might be looking for a potentially bigger role than he might find in Tuscaloosa. But if he's willing to come in and compete, he's a talented player who could carve out a role.
