Kalen DeBoer doesn’t need much help on the recruiting trail, but it seems like five-star Alabama commit Ezavier Crowell is happy to provide it, or at least to celebrate the coaching staff’s victories. Once five-star linebacker Xavier Griffin committed on Sunday, Crowell, who joined the fray just three days earlier, had a hilarious social media reaction.

Is Ezavier Crowell a secret weapon on the recruiting trail?
The picture, of course, is of Alabama general manager Courtney Morgan, who has been instrumental in the Tide's recruiting efforts this cycle. Though maybe, Morgan isn't the only reason that the Tide have some recent momentum on the recruiting trail.
With the recent flurry of five-stars, Alabama has put its slow start to the 2026 recruiting cycle in the rearview mirror. The Tide now have 14 total commits and DeBoer’s class ranks No. 8 in the country. By 247Sports Composite rankings, Griffin is Alabama’s second-highest ranked player at No. 27, slotting in three spots behind five-star defensive back Jorden Edmonds.
Griffin’s commitment is the one that put Alabama into elite company. The Gainesville, Georgia, product was long a top target of the Crimson Tide and will be a major headliner for the group. His announcement came in the wake of Crowell’s and four-star tight end Mack Sutter, who also announced his commitment on Thursday.
Though Crowell only recently committed, the Jackson, Alabama native has long been rumored to join the program. He is the third-highest-ranked recruit in the state, and from his social media activity, he may be doing his best to get involved in Alabama’s recruiting efforts.
Elite recruiting classes tend to have a snowball effect. As top players make their decision, they contact the other blue-chip high schoolers that they’ve met at camps and or other official visits and help to assemble the rest of their class. Even if they aren’t active recruiters, players like Crowell, Edmonds, and now Griffin, all committing to the same school, will make other top recruits considering Alabama take notice.
Like last summer, DeBoer got off to a slow start, but like last summer, he’s closing strong. And his new group of five-stars could help attract the next one; maybe Cedarian Morgan.
The five-star wide receiver is the top-ranked player from Alabama in 2026 and has scheduled his commitment for Wednesday, July 2. Morgan took his official visit on Alabama's final OV weekend of the year with Crowell, Sutter, and plenty of other highly-rated targets.
