5-star Alabama QB commit Elijah Haven working behind the scenes for 2 elite WRs

5-star Alabama QB commit Elijah Haven couldn't be in Tuscaloosa this weekend as originally planned for his official visit, instead having to bump it back a couple of weeks. That was an unfortunate but unavoidable scenario due to the scheduling of the Elite 11 falling on the same weekend.

That keeps not just Haven, but Alabama's other 4-star QB commit and vocal recruiter Trent Seaborn, away for the Tide's biggest recruiting weekend of the summer.

That's not stopping Haven from helping from afar, though.

In an interview at the Elite 11 on Friday, Haven was asked about guys he is targeting to try and lure to Tuscaloosa with him.

Naturally, he drifted toward potential pass-catchers, naming both Monshun Sales and Osani Gayles, two of the top prospects on the board for Kalen DeBoer and comapny in this cycle:

Elijah Haven lists elite WRs Monshun Sales and Osani Gayles as players he wants at Alabama

This is a massive weekend for Alabama's WR recruiting.

Sales and Gayles are two of the top players in the country regardless of position, and you can bet that DeBoer and the staff, along with Haven from afar, are pitching them on becoming an elite duo with the Crimson Tide.

Sales is the biggest fish on the board for Alabama in this cycle. He's the No. 1 WR in the country, and though the Crimson Tide was once seen as the leader early in his recruitment, he has been trending toward Indiana recently after his official visit to the Hoosiers.

But this is Alabama's chance to make its pitch toward the elite prospect. Sales grew up a fan of the Crimson Tide and always dreamed of running out of the tunnel at Bryant-Denny Stadium. There's plenty of competition for his signature, though, with Ohio State, Texas, and Miami all pushing for him as well as Alabama and Indiana.

DeBoer and company have made serious inroads with Gayles in recent weeks and are seen as the leader heading into his official visit this weekend. He still has visits set up with Washington, Tennessee, and Notre Dame after this trip to Tuscaloosa before he makes his decision at the end of June, but the Crimson Tide will push to see if they can end things now and keep him from making those planned trips.

Alabama's elite QB room is a major selling point in recruiting wide receivers. There's no yearly portal shopping for potential boom-or-busts happening in Tuscaloosa at that position, just from the ground development. With Keelon Russell competing for the starting job right now, 5-star Jett Thomalla joining in the 2026 cycle, and now Haven on board for 2027, Alabama's QB room is set for years to come.

That will matter in the recruitment of both Sales and Gayles.
