It may not happen right away, but the Alabama Crimson Tide and all invested parties may get some clarity on where five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales is leaning. The Lawrence North standout out of Indianapolis is in the midst of making his official visits. With one of them already in the books, Sales will now turn his attention to Alabama. The Crimson Tide are one of five programs who could land him.

Here are the five teams in question that are still in the mix to land Sales as part of their 2027 classes.

  • Alabama Crimson Tide
  • Indiana Hoosiers
  • Miami Hurricanes
  • Ohio State Buckeyes
  • Texas Longhorns

Hours before coming to Tuscaloosa, Sales shared out this photo as a story on his Instagram account.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Sales is the No. 1 player from Indiana, the No. 1 wide receiver in the country, and the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting cycle. He has 39 official offers, but is looking predominantly at the five schools listed above. He is taking his official visit to Alabama this weekend. Sales visited Indiana back in April. He has dates scheduled with Texas and Ohio State.

It should be noted at this time, here is what On3/Rivals projects as the likelihood of Sales committing.

  • Indiana Hoosiers: 81.7 percent
  • Ohio State Buckeyes: 4.0 percent
  • Michigan Wolverines: 2.0 percent
  • Alabama Crimson Tide: 1.6 percent
  • Miami Hurricanes: 1.3 percent

Does Kalen DeBoer and the rest of his staff have what it takes to land this blue-chipper out of Indy?

Monshun Sales looks like he should fit right at home playing for Alabama

While the notion of Sales being an in-state recruit for Indiana should continue to make the Hoosiers a very strong landing spot for him, it may have more to do with how incredible of a turnaround IU has experienced under Curt Cignetti than anyhing. Keep in mind he is a noted Nick Saban disciple, one who coached up the wide receivers during the earliest days of Alabama's dynastic run over the SEC.

That being said, Sales is the type of player that will not be confined by his home state's borders when it comes to his recruitment. All of the parties still in hot pursuit of him believe they still have a chance. Indiana is home. Alabama knows wide receivers. So does Ohio State. Texas has the ability to throw money at anyone and be just fine. Truth be told, if that is Sales' TV room back home, that is so telling...

To be quite frank, if Sales grew up in an Alabama household, one that routinely cheered on the Crimson Tide on fall Saturdays for years, that could be a huge get for DeBoer and his staff. You know who else spent some time at Indiana before hitting it big? That would be DeBoer! It is why as long as Sales has a great visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend, Alabama should have a terrific shot at landing him.

Overall, we should not expect for Sales to make his big decision until after he completes his official visits to both Ohio State and Texas later on. Only heavy hitters are vying for his five-star services. While Alabama could conceivably get beaten out by all of them in the NIL game, including Indiana, there is just something about seeing a five-star talent catch passes for the Crimson Tide in the SEC.

It is too early to tell, but his Instagram story is worth more than a thousand words, probably millions...
