The Alabama Crimson Tide is set to hire Derrick Nix as the program's next wide receivers coach. Nix, who has rapidly worked his way up the coaching totem pole, is currently the offensive coordinator for none other than the Auburn Tigers.

When news broke that the Tide was targeting their rival's coordinator, fans and players reacted in turn. Five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan, an Alabama native who chose the Crimson Tide over the Tigers, had one of the best reactions of all.

Morgan kept it simple when he retweeted Touchdown Alabama's news of Alabama bringing on Nix, simply typing out three winking emojis.

In just one message, Morgan not only further solidified his commitment to the Crimson Tide but also built excitement around Nix joining the program.

Derrick Nix is a perfect hire for Alabama

Nix spent just two seasons at Auburn but helped land and build a highly dominant wide receiver corps for the Tigers.

As a player, he spent four years as one of Southern Miss's running backs before joining the program's staff for five seasons. Then, he went on to become the running backs coach for the Ole Miss Rebels, eventually switching to the wide receivers coach, and eventually the assistant head coach.

His quick vertical movement through the world of college football coaching, including a five-year stretch in the SEC, made him the perfect candidate for Alabama's next wide receivers coach.

Morgan, who grew up just two hours from the Tide's home in Tuscaloosa, is the No. 5 wide receiver in the class of 2026 and the No. 3 overall athlete out of Alabama. He is the perfect player to kick-start Nix's time with the Crimson Tide, and will be able to be developed entirely under Nix's guise.

The five-star wideout is part of Alabama's incoming class that ranks fourth in the country and first in the SEC, headlined by five-star prospects like running back Ezavier Crowell, linebacker Xavier Griffin, and many more blue-chip recruits.
