Don't be so quick to write Alabama off here...

Quite the stir was made in the recruitment of 5-star WR Monshun Sales recently. The Indianapolis product, and native of Alabama, is one of the most coveted players in the 2027 class. He grew up a big fan of the Crimson Tide, which gave Kalen DeBoer an early leg up in his recruitment, but his recruitment has been filled with twists and turns. And that's not stopping any time soon.

Indiana, fresh off the first national championship in program history, picked up some expert predictions to land Sales recently. That appears to have been a bit premature. And that's not me saying that, it's reading between the lines of Sales' latest social media posts:

He posted a more NSFW version to his Instagram account. The post is linked here, but be warned, it contains mature language.

Those posts came on top of another interesting Instagram post by Sales, where he shared a photo of what appears to be the aftermath of the 2021 Alabama-Tennessee game, featuring players like Bryce Young and Jameson Williams smoking cigars on the Alabama bench:

Alabama still very much alive in the recruitment of 5-star WR Monshun Sales

It's best to not live and die with every recruiting prediction or social media post of a 17-year-old kid this time of year. You're going to drive yourself crazy doing that.

You've just got to let the process play out.

Of course Indiana has the momentum in Sales' recruitment right now. He just took his official visit to Bloomington, and the Hoosiers are the hot team in college football right now after winning the national championship.

But Alabama will get its swing at the plate with Sales. He's scheduled to take his official visit to Alabama on May 29th, and it's clear that in his heart, he wants to play for the Crimson Tide. It'll just depend on whether that pull matters or if the zeroes on the end of a check are more important.

Alabama is one of five finalists for Sales, joined by Indiana, Texas, Ohio State, and Miami. All four of the teams competing with the Crimson Tide for the nation's No. 1 WR would likely extend bigger offers to him. Kalen DeBoer and company aren't going to get into a bidding war and break the bank completely on one player, no matter how special that player is.

And Sales is certainly special. He's 6-foot-5 with game-breaking speed, the exact archetype at the position that DeBoer has always coveted.

Alabama wants him badly. But so does everyone else.

Sales' recruitment has already been a rollercoaster ride, and with four more official visits on the docket for the 5-star, you'd better strap in and prepare for more twists and turns, ups and downs, between now and whenever he makes his official decision.

Regardless, you can bet that nobody will stop recruiting him until the ink dries on the paper and he's officially signed. He's too special a talent.

It's obvious that there's still quite a bit of recruiting to be done here, regardless of whether you are perceived to be out in front like Indiana or have ground to make up like Alabama.
