Kalen DeBoer and Alabama are on a heater on the recruiting trail after landing both 5-star RB Ezavier Crowell and 4-star TE Mack Sutter on Thursday night. That was Alabama's sixth and seventh commitments of the month of June alone, and saw the Crimson Tide surge up the recruiting rankings as a result.
That heater is being predicted to continue.
5-star LB Xavier Griffin, one of the top targets on Alabama's board, has now been predicted to land with the Crimson Tide. 247Sports Alabama insider Brett Greenberg submitted a Crystal Ball in the Tide's favor to land the elite linebacker.
Griffin is the No. 27 player nationally and the No. 2 LB in the 247 composite. He has drawn comparisons to former Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell, who was just drafted in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
Alabama has been seen as the favorite for Griffin since he decommitted from USC, but his recruitment has been heavily contested with Texas and Ohio State making significant pushes (and significant NIL dollars) to land the Georgia product.
Fortunately, Griffin is an Alabama native and grew up a fan of the Crimson Tide. The allure of playing for the team he grew up cheering for is no doubt difficult to pass up.
A commitment by Griffin would be another massive win for Kalen DeBoer
It wasn't long ago that there was panic in the streets about the 2026 Alabama recruiting class. Entering June, Alabama had just five total commitments, and a class that ranked in the 50s on 247.
Now, Alabama is up to 12 total commitments with seven joining the Tide this month alone. By the time the month comes to an end on Monday, that number could reach double digits.
Later on Friday, Alabama is expected to land 3-star Tuscaloosa native LB Zay Hall. With Griffin potentially following suit on Monday, Kalen DeBoer could reach his 10th commitment of the month when 3-star WR Owen Cabell makes his announcement on Monday. Alabama is trending heavily for the Nashville product.
Alabama won't see another double-digit commitment month in July, but just next week alone, Alabama could add WR Brian Williams, WR Cederian Morgan, DL Nolan Wilson, and S Jireh Edwards, who will all make their decisions before July 5th.
That's not to mention 5-star LB Anthony 'Tank' Jones, who doesn't have a commitment date set but is expected to announce sometime next month. A recruiting insider recently named the Crimson Tide the favorite in the recruitment of Jones, one of the top players in the state for the 2026 cycle.
DeBoer and this staff continue to answer emphatically about their ability to recruit in the SEC.
