Alabama desperately needed some positive momentum on the recruiting trail after a couple of recent decommitments. It finally got it on Saturday with a commitment on A-Day.
3-star defensive lineman Avrian "AJ" Pauley, out of McGill Toolen High School in Mobile, announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide:

Alabama lands commitment from 3-star DL AJ Pauley
Pauley is a 6-foot-5, 265-pound consensus three-star who projects as a defensive tackle in Kane Wommack's defensive system. He fits the mold of the bigger, versatile defensive linemen that Alabama has targeted in the last couple of recruiting cycles.
Pauley is currently ranked as the No. 539 overall player in the 2027 class, but he has an impressive offer list.
Per 247, Pauley holds offers from Florida State, Michigan, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. His commitment to the Crimson Tide will certainly heat up his recruitment even more.
Pauley gives Alabama four commitments in the 2027 class now, following decommitments from Nash Johnson and Jabarrius Garror. Pauley joins 4-star QB Trent Seaborn and 3-star TE's Colt Lumpris and Oakley Keegan.
This gives Alabama some much-needed momentum on the recruiting trail heading into the summer months. Summer has been big for DeBoer and his staff the last two cycles, with major runs on the trail leading to back-to-back Top 5 classes.
Alabama had similar luck during last season's A-Day with the commitment from in-state defensive lineman Mhari Johnson. That kicked off a major run on the trail through the summer, and DeBoer and company will hope Pauley's commitment will do the same.
Alabama had a ton of visitors in town for A-Day, and it will host some of the top recruits in the country over the next few months as things with the 2027 class continue to heat up.
Despite the slow start, this coaching staff has proven to be finishers. They'll do it again with this class.
