Hold on, Alabama football fans, the 'twist' mentioned in the title for this post has nothing to do with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Like last week, Alabama is ranked No. 1 in the current Week 8 SEC Football Power Rankings.
There are several other changes as well, but those changes are also not the twist. The twist is this week, I'm comparing my Power Rankings to those of the Auburn site, Fly War Eagle (FWE). I have long respected the FWE site for its quality and balanced work, even when disagreeing with some opinions. Our current Power Rankings have more agreement than disagreement. In some of the spots where we differ, perspectives on teams are not close. The FWE Power Rankings may be more accurate than mine, and they are certainly more interesting.

Week 8 SEC Football Power Rankings
- No. 1 - Alabama Crimson Tide (6-1, 4-0 in SEC play) - FWE also has the Crimson Tide No. 1
- No. 2 - Texas A&M Aggies (7-0, 4-0) - FWE agrees on the Aggies
- No. 3 - Georgia Bulldogs (6-1, 4-1) - A big difference at this spot with FWE ranking Vanderbilt at No. 3
- No. 4 - Ole Miss Rebels (6-1, 3-1) - FWE has Georgia at No. 4
- No. 5 - Oklahoma Sooners (6-1, 2-1) - FWE has Ole Miss at No. 5
- No. 6 - Vanderbilt Commodores (6-1, 2-1) - FWE has Missouri at No. 6
- No. 7 - Tennessee Vols (5-2, 2-2) - FWE agrees on the Vols
- No. 8 - Missouri Tigers (6-1, 2-1) - FWE has Oklahoma at No. 8
- No. 9 - Texas Longhorns (5-2, 2-1) - FWE also has the Longhorns at No. 9
- No. 10 - LSU Bengal Tigers (5-2, 2-2) - FWE agrees on the Bengal Tigers
- No. 11 - Florida Gators (2-5, 2-2) - FWE also agrees on the now Napier-less Gators
- No. 12 - Auburn Tigers (3-4, 0-4) - FWE has the Mississippi State Bulldogs at No. 12
- No. 13 - South Carolina Gamecocks (3-4, 1-4) - FWE agrees on South Carolina
- No. 14 - Arkansas Razorbacks (2-5, 0-3) - FWE agrees
- No. 15 - Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-3, 0-3) - FWE has the Auburn Tigers at No. 15
- No. 16 - Kentucky Wildcats (2-4, 0-4) - FWE agrees
I am guessing these rankings might be the first ever time that Bama Hammer has held a higher opinion of an Auburn team than does Fly War Eagle. It is almost disconcertingly amazing.
