With the Alabama Crimson Tide preseason FINALLY one day away from being over, it's time to wrap up preseason Bold Predictions. A word of caution first: don't use anyone's bold predictions as a basis for wagers, and especially don't use mine. All crystal balls are murky when making predictions.
I previously published four bold predictions. They are summarized below. Three new ones end my attempt to predict the Alabama Crimson Tide's future.
New Alabama Crimson Tide Bold Predictions
- Opposing quarterbacks will be taking added risk when throwing the ball against the Crimson Tide. Arguably, Alabama has one of college football's best defensive backfields. The Tide's stellar secondary will lead the SEC in interceptions. The newest
- In fairness, this prediction was first offered (sort of) by Greg McElroy. GMac stated that Keelon Russell will be an "ALL SEC type of player." I'm going bolder than Greg by stating that Keelon will be named All-SEC. Last season, four quarterbacks earned the honor, with Ty Simpson being named to the second team. There are not four SEC quarterbacks better than Keelon will be in the second half of the season.
- The Alabama Crimson Tide has had some great field-goal kickers, with several having big legs. But no Alabama kicker has ever made a 60-yard or longer field goal in a game. The Crimson Tide's longest is a 57-yarder by Van Tiffin against Texas A&M in 1985. Transfer kicker Lorcan Quinn's longest made FG is 55 yards. Quinn will make one of 60 yards or longer in the 2026 season.
- My first two, previous bold predictions were Keelon Russell-driven: "If Keelon Russell misses no games due to injury and misses no key snaps in any game because of injury, Alabama will be a College Football Playoff team." and "If Keelon Russell is healthy for every key game, and the Crimson Tide offensive line is consistently competent, the Alabama Crimson Tide will be a serious national championship contender; serious enough for Alabama to reach the National Championship Game."
- The other two previous predictions were about Kane Wommack's defense: "Alabama will have its best Scoring Defense stat in seven seasons." and "Alabama will be in the nation's top five in Scoring Defense at the end of the regular season."
The time for talking bold is over. It is time for the Alabama Crimson Tide to do bold.
