A quick note on the weekly SEC Football Rankings: "... each week's rankings are a snapshot of 'now' and not a prediction of how teams will finish the season." They are not the product of a computer model, and are unabashedly subjective.

Every week, the countdown begins with the SEC's No. 16 team, which last week was the Kentucky Wildcats. At the top of SEC Football last week, the Texas Longhorns were No.1. This week, there is a new No. 1.

Week 3 SEC Football Power Rankings

  • No. 16 - Kentucky Wildcats (2-1) - Last week, the Wildcats were ranked No. 16. Kentucky beat Eastern Michigan 48 - 23 in Lexington. No bump up for Mark Stoops from a win over the No. 158-ranked Eagles (per Jeff Sagarin). The Cats appear to have made some progress after starting a new QB, Cutter Boley, but not enough to move up in the rankings.
  • No. 15 - Florida Gators (1-2) - Last week, the Gators were No. 15. After their 20-10 loss to LSU in Baton Rouge, prospects look bleak for Billy Napier and the Gators. DJ Lagway's five interceptions against the Bengal Tigers point to a team with many more losses ahead.
  • No. 14 - South Carolina Gamecocks (2-1) - Last week, No. 12 - Hosting Vanderbilt, the Gamecocks lost LaNorriss Sellers to injury late in the second quarter. Even with Sellers, South Carolina was in trouble against a physical Vandy team. Penalties and turnovers plagued the Gamecocks in the 31-7 loss.
