After signing just one highly ranked WR in the 2026 recruiting class to go along with several long-term projects, Kalen DeBoer and Alabama are looking to be a bit more aggressive this cycle.
Alabama landed the state's top WR a year ago with Cederian Morgan, and DeBoer and company are looking for a repeat in the 2027 class.
While 5-star Monshun Sales is the Tide's top target at WR, 4-star Deshawn Hall from Prattville High School is highly-regarded by the coaching staff in his own right. He has the size (6-foot-5) that DeBoer has shown to covet with guys like Morgan and Derek Meadows.
Hall has official visits set up to Auburn, Penn State, Alabama, and Tennessee in that order. His scheduled visit to Tuscaloosa is for the weekend of June 12th.
While Hall recently released a list of seven schools still in contention, it appears that it may be a three-horse race, according to a recent interview Hall did with Touchdown Alabama Magazine.
Hall mentioned Tennessee, Alabama, and Penn State as three schools that have been standing out in his recruitment.
Deshawn Hall details recent visit with Alabama, dinner with Derrick Nix
"It was electric," Hall said of his visit with Alabama. "I stayed down there at Bama for two days. It was a great time."
On his relationship with new Alabama WR coach Derrick Nix:
"It's been great," Hall said. "I actually just went out to eat with Coach Nix the other day. It was great... ate good, had some good talks. It was smooth."
Nix, the former Auburn offensive coordinator, joined Alabama this offseason, replacing long-time DeBoer WR coach JaMarcus Shephard, who took the head coaching job at Oregon State. Nix has significant ties to the region in recruiting, and that's clearly paying off with his relationship-building within the state. Auburn has been recruiting Hall for a while, too, so Nix had that preexisting relationship to lean on when he made the move to Tuscaloosa.
As a junior, Hall caught 40 passes for 660 yards and five touchdowns for Prattville. He's also a multi-sport athlete who has reported offers in basketball from multiple schools as well.
